Live and Work by the Ocean in Ogunquit, Maine
Imagine finishing your shift and walking straight onto three miles of golden sand, with the Atlantic breeze in your hair and a lobster roll in your hand. That's everyday life when you join the SB Sea View Motel team in Ogunquit, Maine – one of New England's most charming and welcoming beach towns. This Work & Travel USA position is perfect for university students who want a friendly, small-team environment, a genuinely beautiful summer destination, and a paycheck that lets them explore the East Coast.
Your Role as a Housekeeper
As part of the housekeeping team, you'll be the reason guests fall in love with their stay. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and refreshing guest rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to a high standard
- Changing linens, making beds, and restocking towels and amenities
- Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and keeping hallways and outdoor areas tidy
- Managing laundry, folding linens, and organising supply closets
- Reporting maintenance issues and any lost-and-found items
- Greeting guests with a smile and helping with simple requests
No previous experience is required – full on-site training is provided. What matters most is a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the willingness to work as part of a team.
Pay & Working Conditions
- Hourly rate: $15.10 per hour
- Hours: approximately 38 hours per week, with overtime opportunities during peak season
- Tips: Yes! Guests in Ogunquit are known for tipping housekeepers generously, which can meaningfully boost your weekly earnings
- Season: Summer through Fall – stay for the warm beach months and the spectacular New England autumn
- Business type: Small motel housekeeping department – a close-knit, supportive team rather than a huge impersonal resort
Why Ogunquit?

- Ogunquit Beach – consistently ranked among the best beaches in the USA
- Marginal Way – a breathtaking cliff-side coastal walk
- Perkins Cove – picture-perfect harbour with boutiques, boat tours and fresh seafood shacks
- A lively summer social scene with festivals, live music, theatre and dozens of restaurants and cafés
Ogunquit is also a fantastic base for weekend travel: Portland, Maine is about an hour away, and Boston is roughly 75 minutes by car – with New York City, Niagara Falls and the White Mountains all within reach for a longer trip.
What We're Looking For
- University student aged 18–25 with valid J-1 Work & Travel sponsorship
- Conversational English – enough to communicate with guests and teammates
- Physically active and comfortable with a hands-on, on-your-feet job
- Reliable, punctual and detail-oriented
- Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays (peak season is busy!)
- Team player with a friendly, guest-focused attitude
