Why Anchorage, Alaska?

Anchorage is unlike any other place you will work in the United States. Surrounded by the Chugach Mountains and sitting on the edge of Cook Inlet, the city is a basecamp for one of the world's greatest wilderness playgrounds. In summer you will experience up to 19 hours of daylight – which means your free time truly feels endless.

On your days off you can hike the Flattop Mountain trail, cycle the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, spot moose and beluga whales, take a day trip to the Matanuska Glacier, go salmon fishing, or ride the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park. As the season turns to fall, the tundra explodes into red and gold – and if you are lucky, the northern lights make their first appearance of the year.

About Alaska

Alaska is the ultimate Work & Travel adventure - glaciers, Denali, midnight sun and untouched wilderness. Most students work in remote lodges, national-park resorts and on tour boats, earning some of the highest summer wages in the country.
