The Red Box Car Restaurant in Red Lodge, Montana is looking for energetic international students to join its Kitchen Staff team from summer through fall.
About the Job
The Red Box Car is a beloved local landmark – a classic American burger joint housed in a genuine railroad box car, serving juicy burgers, crispy fries, shakes and smiles to hungry locals, road-trippers and Yellowstone tourists. As part of the kitchen crew, you’ll be right in the middle of the action.
- Prepare and cook burgers, sandwiches, fries and other classic American menu items
- Assist with food prep: chopping, portioning, and setting up stations before service
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen following U.S. health and sanitation standards
- Work efficiently with the team during busy lunch and dinner rushes
- Support with dishwashing, stocking and closing duties as needed
Pay & Benefits
- $15.00 per hour – a strong wage for a first job in the USA
- Tips included – boost your weekly earnings
- 40 guaranteed hours per week, with the possibility of overtime during peak season

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 eligible for the Work & Travel USA (J-1) program
- Conversational English – enough to follow instructions and communicate with the team
- Reliable, punctual and ready to work on your feet in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn – previous kitchen experience is a plus, but not required
- Team player who’s excited to be part of a small, close-knit crew
