Hungry Hut is the oldest fast food restaurant in Shaver Lake, California, set at 5,300 feet in the Sierra National Forest, about a 40-minute drive from Fresno and Clovis. Family owned since 1964, it's a favourite with families all year round, and summer is the busiest season.
The restaurant sits in the heart of the village, where student housing is located too. Two supermarkets, the post office and the local restaurants are a short walk away, and the lake's beaches and marinas around 20 minutes on foot. Summer temperatures average about 78F with cool evenings, and students from Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Uzbekistan have worked here before.
