You'll be about 20 minutes from Portland, Maine's coolest small city, famous for lobster rolls, lighthouses, and craft breweries. Boston is a short bus or train ride away, and New York City is an easy weekend trip. Maine summers are warm, sunny, and perfect for beach days, hiking, and exploring the New England coast.
