The job as Back of House Restaurant Worker
What you'll do
- Prepare the dishes that are served, including chopping vegetables, breaking down, cutting or grinding meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, and storing food
- Cooking and preparing food items according to procedures or recipes
- Prepping kitchen items - help chop, cut, and prepare dishes
- Line work (when applicable includes helping to cook foods and prepare items in the kitchen)
- Placing food items on serving plates or dishes along with required condiments and utensils to present to guests
- Preparing items quickly and accurately outlined on food tickets, ensuring no waste and by production and portion requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment
- Washing all dirty dishes and equipment, either by hand or using the dishwasher
- Ensuring that cooking grease is rotated properly
- At the beginning of the day, responsible for preparation areas stocked and set-up and dishwasher is turned on
- At the end of the day responsible for cleaning up food preparation areas, properly storing unused food items, and turning the dishwasher off
- Attend departmental and team meetings as well as participate in additional training courses
- Safely perform all duties
- Helping out with dishwashing shifts a few times a week
