Courtyard by Marriott Hyannis is a hotel operated under Marriott International, located in Hyannis, Massachusetts, right in the heart of Cape Cod. The peninsula is a classic American summer destination, with beaches, lighthouses, quaint fishing villages, and ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Hyannis is also home to the John F. Kennedy Museum.
Summers here are busy with tourists, so you can expect a fast-paced season with a large international hotel company. Students can take advantage of the Marriott discount on hotel rooms. Keep in mind that public transportation is very limited – there is a regional bus with limited hours, so most students bike or walk.
The job as Housekeeper
What you'll do
- Detailed cleaning of guest rooms, public spaces, bathrooms, pool area and hallways.
- Cleaning of parking lots and entrances.
- Removing linens and trash from guest rooms.
- Folding laundry, emptying and loading washers and dryers, stocking linens.
- Removing and collecting linens for laundering and transporting them to designated areas.
- Cleaning rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner.
- Dusting furniture and equipment.
- Emptying wastebaskets and cleaning them inside and out.
- Cleaning tiled floors with the use of brooms and mops.
- Using chemical-based products to clean tubs, sinks, countertops, mirrors, toilets, door panels and shower curtains.
- Replenishing trash bags, soaps, bathroom items, and other supplies.
- Transporting all trash and waste to disposal areas, as instructed.
- Removing items from refrigerator, stove, and microwave.
- Cleaning refrigerator inside and out.
- Demonstrating a high level of customer service, responding to and taking appropriate action to resolve concerns and complaints of guests.
- Keeping supervisor/manager informed of situations relating to facility operation, patron complaints or concerns, accidents, emergency situations, damages, and potential safety hazards.
- Attending departmental and team meetings as well as participating in all additional training courses.
- Performing all duties in a safe manner.
- Moving to different locations or job assignments within the property, as needed, and performing other duties as assigned.

Housing
Housing is not provided – you must find and secure accommodation yourself before arrival, though manager Wendy Anderlot can share a list of housing resources. Places may be small, often without a washer/dryer, kitchen or closet space, and sit 1 to 5 miles from the employer, roughly a 45-minute bike ride. Shops, restaurants, a bank, post office, fitness center and library are within walking distance of the worksite.

Providence, Newport and even New York City are within easy reach for your end-of-summer travels.
