Job duties
- Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional way.
- Manage the reservation system, ensuring that guest bookings are accurately recorded and confirmed.
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring they are seated in a timely manner and that seating arrangements are comfortable.
- Maintain a waitlist during busy times, providing estimated wait times and checking in with guests regularly.
- Answer the phone and take reservations, ensuring that all details (guest names, party sizes, phone, and special requests) are accurately recorded.
- Ensure the dining area is prepared for service by checking that tables, chairs, and dining areas are clean, properly set, and ready for guests.
- Communicate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth seating and coordination during service periods.
- Assist with taking take-out orders, providing customers with information about the menu and estimated wait times.
- Provide guests with menus and inform them of daily specials, promotions, or any menu updates.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host/hostess station, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests.
- Assist servers or other staff members during peak periods, helping with seating and customer service needs.
- Wipe menus down and help to clean tables off.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Warmly welcoming guests as they arrive and creating a memorable first impression
- Managing the seating chart, waitlist, and reservations to keep service flowing smoothly
- Escorting guests to their tables, presenting menus, and answering questions about the venue
- Coordinating with servers, bartenders, and management during busy summer rushes
- Answering phone calls, taking reservations, and providing local recommendations
- Keeping the host stand and entrance areas clean, organized, and guest-ready
- Assisting with takeout orders and light service support when needed
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly rate: $13.00 per hour
- Hours: approximately 40 hours per week
- Season: Summer to Fall
- Tips: Not applicable for this position — your steady hourly wage is guaranteed
