General information
Job duties
- Performs a variety of entry-level dishwashing tasks.
- Routinely cleans, washes and stores food and beverage service items, equipment, and the kitchen area.
- May monitor/clean the team dining room and set up and break down team dining buffet lines.
- Assists with other kitchen duties as assigned.
- Works in designated station set by the Location Chef / Sous Chef.
- May work in guest restaurants or the Employee Dining Room as needed and as assigned.
- Keeps all kitchen areas, equipment, and machines clean, sanitized and organized during individual shift.
- Assists all cooks and chefs as necessary.
- Assists in daily cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Maintains cleanliness of all kitchen and dining room materials.
- Follows all machine cleaning procedures.
- Assists all cooks in daily preparation of menu items.
- May periodically train new employees or staff from other departments.
- Complies with all health and safety codes in handling and storage of all food products and kitchen equipment.
- Works with various soaps and cleaning chemicals.

HAP Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge in Cooper Landing, Alaska is looking for energetic university students to join its kitchen team as Dish Stewards for the Summer to Fall season.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating the commercial dishwashing machine and hand-washing pots, pans and kitchen equipment
- Keeping dishes, glassware and silverware clean, sorted and ready for the restaurant team
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe dish area, including floors and work stations
- Taking out trash, breaking down boxes and assisting with recycling
- Helping chefs and kitchen staff with basic prep and stocking tasks when needed
- Following all health, hygiene and food safety standards

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 on a J-1 Work & Travel USA visa
- Basic conversational English
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry moderately heavy items in a fast-paced kitchen
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Availability from Summer through Fall – no previous experience required, full training provided!
