Pancake Chef Restaurant is a family restaurant in Mackinaw City, Michigan, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The town is a summer resort in Northern Michigan, right at the base of the beautiful Mackinac Bridge. Surrounded by water, it offers sandy beaches, parks, museums and historic forts, as the area was settled before the Revolutionary War.
As a seasonal student you join a team the employer genuinely looks after: help with transportation arrangements and half off menu prices for staff, including on days off when you come in with a guest. The restaurant is also known for paying some of the highest wages in town.
The job as Kitchen Support
What you'll do
- Prepare hot and cold foods
- Perform food preparation tasks
- Wash dishes
- Have direct contact with pork
- Chop vegetables, make salads, and prepare menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards
- Use kitchen tools and utensils including knives, grills, and fryers
- Take out trash
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and cleanliness
- Sort and stack clean dishes
- Put dishes away in appropriate storage areas
- Wash pots, pans, and trays
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Housing
The employer provides housing in cottages, with 3 participants per room, or up to 4 if you prefer to share with friends. Linens are included, WiFi covers the entire complex and there are kitchen facilities. The cottages are full of participants from around the world, creating a fun atmosphere. You may also find your own housing.

Mackinaw City sits at the very tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, where Lake Michigan meets Lake Huron. It’s a classic American summer town: sandy beaches, lighthouses, fudge shops, sunset views over the water and the spectacular five-mile Mackinac Bridge. A short ferry ride takes you to Mackinac Island, a car-free island where horse-drawn carriages and bicycles are the only transport – one of the most photographed places in the Midwest.
The town lives and breathes tourism from June through October, which means plenty of work hours, a friendly international student community and countless opportunities to explore: kayaking, cycling the island loop, hiking state parks, and travelling on to Chicago, Detroit or Canada during your days off.
