The job as Lifeguard
What you'll do
- Protect the safety of pool patrons by monitoring assigned areas
- Prevent unsafe behavior
- Respond to emergencies and rescue swimmers in danger
- Provide first aid, CPR/AED, and emergency oxygen
- Maintain test-ready lifeguarding skills
- Inspect pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, and equipment
- Clean and maintain the facility
- Follow pool and YMCA safety procedures
- Complete records and reports
- Operate telephones, rescue equipment, and cleaning equipment
- Participate in all required in-service and safety trainings
- Remain alert and communicate clearly
- Provide excellent customer service and work cooperatively with guests and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Assist with swimming lessons and other recreation programs as assigned
- Perform aquatic rescues and lift or move up to 30 pounds
