Xanterra Mount Rushmore National Memorial is part of the Xanterra Travel Collection and operates at Mount Rushmore National Memorial near Keystone, South Dakota, where the faces of four US Presidents are carved into the rock. It sits in the beautiful Black Hills at the foot of Black Elk (Harney) Peak, close to Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave National Park, and the lakes and trails of Black Hills National Forest.
You'll stay in employee housing near the small town of Keystone, a short shuttle ride from the memorial. Off shift you can explore the Sculptor's Studio, Lincoln Borglum Museum and Avenue of Flags, or watch the Evening Sculpture Lighting Ceremony. Keep in mind this is a remote national forest area, not a big city.
The job as Resort Worker
What you'll do
- Responsible for food preparation, cafeteria work, fast food operation, dish/pot machine operation and maintain sanitation standards in kitchen, dining room, and snack bar
- Take customer orders, receive payments from customers and enter into cash register
- Select requested food items from serving or storage areas and assemble items on serving tray or in takeout container
- Notify kitchen personnel of shortages or special orders
- Serve cold drinks, frozen milk drinks, or desserts; make and serve hot beverages; scoop and serve ice cream
- Cook or apportion food or perform other minor duties to prepare food, serve customers, or maintain orderly eating or serving areas
- Replenish supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes in dining room, and condiment bar
- Carry and wash dirty dishes from dining room; clear and wipe table tops and chairs with damp cloth
- Work in the Employee Dining Room by serving food and replenishing all food and condiment supplies as needed, plus cleaning duties as assigned
- Greet customer on sales floor and determine make, type, and quality of merchandise desired
- Display merchandise, suggest selections that meet customer's needs, and emphasize selling points of article such as quality and utility; answer customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise and place new merchandise on display
- Prepare sales on register, receive payment, and wrap or bag merchandise for customer
- Take inventory of stock, requisition merchandise from stockroom, and clean work area and store floor as needed and/or directed
- Maintain cleanliness of parking lot grounds, assist guests at Pay on Foot stations, act as first contact with guests arriving at the Memorial, direct traffic within the parking facility, and act as a crossing guard at the pedestrian walkway

Housing
You'll stay in the Kay Riordan-Steuerwald Hall dormitory, which is required. Rooms hold 2-3 people and come furnished with a bed, secure closet, refrigerator and private shower and toilet, plus sheets, blankets and towels. There's Wi-Fi, laundry, a common room and meals in the employee dining room. Housing is within ¼ mile of the worksite, with shuttle service.
