Work & Travel USA in the Heart of the Alaskan Wilderness

Imagine finishing your shift and walking out to snow-capped mountains, turquoise rivers full of salmon, and skies that stay bright until midnight. HAP Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge in Cooper Landing, Alaska is looking for energetic university students to join its kitchen team as Dish Stewards for the Summer to Fall season.

This is more than a job – it’s the kind of summer you’ll talk about for the rest of your life. You’ll live and work in one of the most beautiful corners of the United States, meet travelers from around the globe, and become part of an international team of students just like you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating the commercial dishwashing machine and hand-washing pots, pans and kitchen equipment
  • Keeping dishes, glassware and silverware clean, sorted and ready for the restaurant team
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe dish area, including floors and work stations
  • Taking out trash, breaking down boxes and assisting with recycling
  • Helping chefs and kitchen staff with basic prep and stocking tasks when needed
  • Following all health, hygiene and food safety standards

What We’re Looking For

  • University students aged 18–25 on a J-1 Work & Travel USA visa
  • Basic conversational English
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry moderately heavy items in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Availability from Summer through Fall – no previous experience required, full training provided!
