Imagine starting your workday with the smell of pine trees, mist rising off Squam Lake and the White Mountains standing tall in the distance. Rockywold Deephaven Camps in Holderness, New Hampshire, is a legendary family camp that has welcomed guests since 1897 – and this summer, it’s looking for energetic students to join its Groundskeeping team.
If you love being outside, working with your hands and seeing the results of your effort at the end of every day, this is your kind of job.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Mowing lawns, trimming, raking and keeping trails and pathways clean and safe
- Caring for gardens, flower beds and green areas around the property
- Assisting with light maintenance projects, painting and repairs
- Moving and setting up furniture, equipment and supplies for camp activities and events
- Collecting and sorting trash and recycling around the campus
- Helping with seasonal tasks – from summer landscaping to fall leaf clean-up and property preparation
- Greeting guests with a friendly attitude and helping them whenever needed
Why Holderness, New Hampshire?
Holderness sits on the shores of Squam Lake – the pristine lake made famous by the film “On Golden Pond”. You’ll be minutes away from hiking trails in the White Mountain National Forest, swimming spots, kayaking, waterfalls and classic New England towns. On your days off you can climb Mount Major, explore Franconia Notch, or take a weekend trip to Boston (2 hours), Portland, Maine, or even Montreal and New York City.
And if you stay into the fall, you’ll witness one of the most spectacular natural shows on Earth: New England’s autumn foliage, when the entire landscape turns red, orange and gold.

Who We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 on the Work & Travel USA program
- Good physical condition – you’ll be on your feet, lifting and working outdoors in all weather
- Conversational English and a positive, guest-friendly attitude
- Reliable, punctual and ready to work as part of a team
- Willing to commit to the full season (bonus if you can stay through the fall)
- No previous experience required – just motivation and a strong work ethic
