Protect Paradise: Become a Security Officer at Sea Colony Resort
Imagine starting your shift with the sound of Atlantic waves, the smell of salt in the air, and a half-mile of private beach stretching in front of you. That’s an ordinary day at Sea Colony Resort in Bethany Beach, Delaware – one of the most beloved oceanfront communities on the East Coast, and your workplace this Work & Travel USA season.
We’re looking for responsible, friendly and alert university students to join our Security team from summer through fall, earning $16.00 per hour for 40 guaranteed hours a week.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Security Officer, you are the calm, confident presence that keeps our resort community safe and welcoming. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Patrolling the resort grounds, beach access points, pools, tennis courts and parking areas on foot, by bike or by vehicle
- Monitoring entrances and verifying guest, owner and visitor credentials
- Greeting guests, giving directions and answering questions – you’re often the first friendly face people meet
- Responding to noise complaints, lost-and-found requests and minor incidents in a professional manner
- Reporting safety hazards, maintenance issues and rule violations to supervisors
- Writing clear, accurate incident and shift reports
- Assisting with emergency procedures and supporting local first responders when needed
Why Bethany Beach?
Bethany Beach is known as one of the “Quiet Resorts” – a safe, family-friendly seaside town with clean sandy beaches, a charming wooden boardwalk, ice-cream shops, surf schools and stunning sunsets over the Delaware bays. With hundreds of international students working in the area every summer, you’ll instantly become part of a huge, multicultural community of young people who work hard, hit the beach after shift, and build friendships that last long after the season ends.
What You’ll Get
- $16.00 per hour – a strong, stable rate with no tipping required
- 40 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during peak season
- A long season from summer to fall – more weeks means more earnings and more travel money
- Uniform provided and full on-the-job training
- Real professional experience in security, safety and customer service for your CV
- Daily English practice with American guests and colleagues
- Living and working steps away from the ocean
What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 eligible for the Work & Travel USA (J-1) program
