Why Skagway?

Skagway is a legendary Gold Rush town of fewer than 1,200 year-round residents, tucked at the end of a spectacular Alaskan fjord. In summer it comes alive with cruise ships, hikers and adventurers from around the globe. On your days off you can hike the historic Chilkoot Trail, kayak past glaciers, ride the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, spot whales, bears and eagles, or take a road trip across the border into Canada’s Yukon Territory. With nearly endless daylight in the Alaskan summer, your adventures don’t have to stop when your shift ends.

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive $17/hour wage with a solid 40-hour schedule and overtime opportunities during peak season
  • Real experience in American hospitality with a globally recognized employer
  • Employer-supported housing options in a remote destination where accommodation is hard to find independently

  • Improved English, teamwork and time-management skills for your CV
  • Time to travel across the USA after your program ends

Who We’re Looking For

  • University students aged 18–25 eligible for the Work & Travel USA J-1 program

  • Physically fit and comfortable standing for long shifts, lifting up to 20 kg and working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen
  • Reliable, punctual and a genuine team player
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ready to live and work in a small, remote town far from big cities
