As a Lifeguard at Wilderness At The Smokies in Sevierville, Tennessee, you’ll be at the heart of one of America’s largest water park resorts – and you’ll get paid to keep the good times safe.
This is the perfect Work & Travel USA position for active, responsible university students who love water, sunshine and being part of a young international team. No experience? No problem – full professional lifeguard training and certification are provided by the resort.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monitoring designated pool, wave pool, lazy river and water slide zones to ensure guest safety
- Enforcing water park rules in a friendly, confident and professional manner
- Responding quickly to emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR when needed
- Assisting guests with questions, directions and slide dispatching
- Keeping your zone clean, tidy and hazard-free, and checking safety equipment
- Completing daily in-service training sessions and safety drills
- Delivering a warm, welcoming experience to families visiting from all over the USA

- Hours: approximately 35 hours per week
- Season: Summer through Fall

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 on a J-1 Work & Travel USA visa
- Confident swimmers – you must pass a basic swim test (swimming, treading water, retrieving an object from the pool bottom)
- Good conversational English and strong communication skills
- Responsible, alert and calm under pressure
- Comfortable working outdoors in warm weather, standing for long periods
- Positive attitude, teamwork spirit and a genuine smile for guests
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays
