About the employer
Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge is a hotel at the edge of Denali National Park in Alaska, run by Holland America Princess Alaska. Positions include busser, dish steward, prep cook, host and room attendant, and the employer guarantees housing for everyone hired, though you may also arrange your own. The lodge sits more than 50 miles from the nearest larger cities, Anchorage and Fairbanks, and a second job is likely to be available.

Job duties
- Greet the dining room guests and seat them in an expedient fashion while maintaining a proper seating flow in the seating sections.
- Greet the guests as they approach the podium and make them feel welcome to the dining room.
- Seat the guest(s) as quickly as possible or, if a table is not immediately available, accurately inform the guest(s) of how long the wait period will be.
- Enter guest name and number in party on the wait list and give guest an accurate time of the wait period.
- For dining rooms that utilize a reservations system, check guests in and inform them of the length of time before they will be seated.
- Keep the seating chart current and seat guests in a proper flow in the sections so as not to over seat any sections.
- Keep menus clean and presentable and discard any menus that are too worn or tattered.
- Report any guest complaints and/or issues immediately to the Service Manager or Unit Manager and respond in a professional, sincere manner.
- Complete opening and closing side duties according to dining room standards.
- Maintain seating log to ensure accurate cover count for the seating period.
- Assist Bussers as needed to clear and set tables.
- Handle sales in an accurate manner, including maintaining a daily bank, entering sales in a cash register, taking money, counting out correct change, giving change to guests, and completing credit card transactions.
- Other duties as assigned.

We’re looking for friendly, energetic university students to join our front-of-house team as Hosts for the Summer to Fall season. If you love meeting people from all over the world and thrive in a fast-paced, fun environment, this is your adventure.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Warmly greeting guests as they arrive at the lodge restaurants and welcoming them with a genuine Alaskan smile
- Managing the waiting list, seating charts and table rotations to keep service flowing smoothly
- Escorting guests to their tables, presenting menus and answering questions about the lodge and the park
- Communicating with servers, kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth, efficient service
- Keeping the host stand and entrance areas clean, organized and inviting
- Assisting with reservations, phone inquiries and guest requests
- Sharing tips about local hikes, wildlife tours and the best spots to see Denali on a clear day
The Location: Denali National Park
Denali National Park & Preserve covers over six million acres of wild land – grizzly bears, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves and endless mountain ridges. The lodge sits along the Nenana River, minutes from the park entrance and surrounded by rafting, ziplining, hiking trails and jeep safaris.
In the Alaskan summer you get up to 20 hours of daylight, which means your days off are longer than you ever thought possible. And when fall arrives, the tundra explodes into red and gold – one of the most beautiful sights on Earth.

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 participating in the Work & Travel USA program
- Conversational to good English communication skills
- A positive, outgoing personality and genuine desire to help guests
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts
- Reliability, punctuality and a team-player attitude
- Availability for the full Summer to Fall season, including weekends and holidays
- No previous experience required – full training provided
