Imagine waking up to misty mornings over a Connecticut lake, working alongside an international team, and finishing your shift with time to explore charming small towns, hiking trails, and swimming holes. That’s daily life as a Housekeeping team member at Interlaken Inn in Lakeview, Connecticut — one of the most picturesque corners of the Northeast United States.
This Work & Travel USA position runs from summer into fall, meaning you’ll experience two of America’s most beautiful seasons: sun-soaked lake days in July and August, followed by the world-famous New England autumn foliage in September and October.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the housekeeping department, you’ll play a key role in creating the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that guests return for year after year. Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and preparing guest rooms, bathrooms, and suites to the inn’s high standards
- Changing bed linens, replacing towels, and restocking room amenities
- Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and polishing surfaces in rooms and common areas
- Maintaining tidy hallways, lobbies, and shared spaces
- Collecting and sorting laundry and managing housekeeping supply carts
- Reporting maintenance issues and any lost-and-found items to supervisors
- Responding politely to guest requests for extra amenities
No previous experience is required — full on-the-job training is provided. What matters most is a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
