General information
Job duties
- Greet guests and maintain a friendly demeanor throughout their dining experience.
- Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow associates and other departments within the campground.
- Ensure that outlets are sanitized, cleaned, stocked, and set up correctly at the start of and throughout the shift while adhering to sanitation, safety, and food and beverage control policies.
- Clear, clean and reset tables as needed.
- Responsible for understanding and operating the POS system.
- Assist with basic food preparation as needed.
- Understand and communicate what's on the menu, answering questions and making recommendations on selections to guests.
- Adhere to policies regarding handling of cash drawer while following specific KOA cash and credit card handling procedures.
- Increase revenues through up-selling strategies and profitability of ancillary income.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, customer service, quality and cleanliness.
- Be familiar with fire extinguisher locations and know how to operate them in the restaurant/kitchen.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals in accordance with department standards and utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
- Foster a work environment that maximizes employee involvement, morale and is dedicated to delivering KOA's Culture, Mission, Values and Goals.

As a Food & Beverage Server, you’ll be part of a friendly hospitality team that feeds hungry adventurers from all over the world during the busiest and most exciting season of the year.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting and seating guests with genuine warmth and a big smile
- Taking food and drink orders and entering them into the POS system
- Serving meals and beverages promptly and accurately
- Answering questions about the menu and recommending local favorites
- Keeping tables, service stations and dining areas clean and welcoming
- Supporting teammates during peak breakfast and dinner rushes
- Helping with basic prep, restocking and end-of-shift closing duties

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 eligible for the Work & Travel USA (J-1) program
- Conversational English – confident enough to chat with guests
- A positive, energetic attitude and genuine love of people
- Ability to stay calm and cheerful during busy rushes
- Reliability, punctuality and strong teamwork
- Comfortable standing and moving throughout your shift
- Previous serving or hospitality experience is a bonus, but full training is provided – no experience required!
