Job duties
- Greet and assist customers at the meat counter, providing information on meat products, sales, specials and promotions
- Rotate products to ensure that the older items are sold before the new ones (First in, First Out)
- Stay informed on various products available, including ingredients, preparation methods and storing methods
- Make recommendations to customers based on their preferences and needs
- Answer customer inquiries and address any concerns or issues related to the department, communicating accordingly to leadership
- Maintain cleanliness in the meat prep and service areas based on health department regulations
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage and handling of all deli products
- Remove products that do not meet store quality standards and dispose of them according to store policies
- Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory levels, sales and any issues within the department
- Ensure accurate pricing and labeling of all items and update/change price tags as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Deli Clerk, you’ll be at the center of the store’s most popular department – where locals and vacationers come for fresh sandwiches, hot meals and famous Maine treats. Your daily duties will include:
- Preparing sandwiches, salads, pizzas and daily hot food specials
- Slicing meats and cheeses to order and packaging fresh deli products
- Greeting customers, taking orders and offering friendly recommendations
- Stocking display cases and keeping products fresh and beautifully presented
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and sanitation
- Operating the register and supporting teammates during busy summer rushes
Who We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 on a valid J-1 Work & Travel USA visa
- Conversational English and confidence speaking with customers
- A positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to stand for your shift and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
