The job as Grocery Store Clerk
What you'll do
- Completing sales transactions, entering sales in cash register, taking money, counting out correct change, packing items in bags for customers
- Handling all types of food
- Greeting customers and providing excellent customer service
- Stocking shelves and inventory of items
- Using powered equipment such as deli slicers, bakeshop ovens and trash compactors
- Maintaining cleanliness in all areas including stockrooms, coolers, freezers, floors and checkout areas
- Collecting shopping carts from parking lot and bringing them to the store front
- Communicating with supervisors and managers regarding customer concerns, accidents and potential safety hazards
- Participating in training and attending orientation classes
- Performing all duties in a safe manner and following all company policies
- Moving to different departments around the store or taking on different job assignments as needed

Housing
Stop & Shop arranges host family housing, and staying there is required. You share a room with one other participant of the same sex. The homes offer WiFi, kitchen access and laundry facilities, with very good cell reception locally. Most families have pets, so it may not suit you if you have allergies.
