About the Position
The dish pit is the heartbeat of every great kitchen, and at The Matterhorn you’ll be a key part of a fast-moving, friendly crew. This is a hands-on, physical role that rewards speed, teamwork and a positive attitude – perfect for students who like to stay busy and finish a shift knowing they made a real difference.
Your Daily Duties
- Washing dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment
- Keeping the dish area clean, organised and stocked throughout service
- Sorting and returning clean items to the kitchen, bar and service stations
- Assisting the kitchen team with basic prep and cleaning tasks when needed
- Taking out trash, breaking down boxes and following health and safety standards
- Supporting closing duties and end-of-shift deep cleaning

Requirements
- Full-time university student aged 18–25, eligible for the Work & Travel USA J-1 program
- Conversational English – enough to understand instructions and communicate with the team
- Good physical stamina: comfortable standing for long shifts, lifting and working in a warm, humid kitchen
- Reliable, punctual and ready to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Positive team-player attitude and willingness to learn
- No previous experience required – full training is provided
