As a seasonal student you'll interact with Americans throughout the workday and get to enjoy summer in Annapolis, with outdoor festivals, waterfront activities and live performances. The company also organises trips to the nation's capital, sporting events, visits to local attractions and a J1 Day celebrating international employees.
The job as Lifeguard / Pool Operator
What you'll do
- Ensure the safety of all patrons
- Perform daily operations and maintenance of the aquatic facility
- Actively supervise the swimming area
- Enforce safety rules
- Respond to emergencies such as water rescues
- Administer first aid or CPR
- Identify potential hazards to maintain a safe environment
- Inspect equipment
- Keep the area clean and organized
- Maintain water quality through chemical testing and balancing
- Clean the pool and surrounding areas
- Inspect and maintain equipment
- Adhere to safety regulations
- Handle record-keeping
- Communicate with facility management
- Respond to emergencies

Pay and hours
Housing
The employer guarantees housing for all hired participants: 2-3 bedroom apartments or a 3 bedroom house with a lease agreement, though you may find your own. Rooms are shared by 2-3 people, with sleeping quarters not co-ed unless requested. Secure WiFi, a kitchen with basic kitchenware and on-site laundry are included.
