Bishops Store is a family-owned, fourth-generation business in Jackman, Maine — a peaceful town about 20 minutes from the Canadian border, where neighbours are friends and everyone knows you. It brings together a gas station, a kitchen with made-to-order and grab-and-go food, a store full of gifts, souvenirs and sporting goods, and an ice cream parlor.
Summer is the busiest season, with visitors camping nearby or passing through on their way to Quebec or the coast. You will work in the kitchen or the ice cream parlor, close to customers. Lakes, ponds, fishing and hiking are all around, and you get 30% off food and gifts in the store.
The job as Kitchen Crew
What you'll do
- Learn most aspects of the kitchen
- Make breakfast sandwiches, slice meat, dice vegetables, and restock for the day
- Make and take orders in the afternoon
- Make cold sandwiches and desserts for the grab and go
- Make pizza and grilled food for the warmers
- Take and make orders in the evening
- Restock and clean the kitchen for the morning crew

Housing
The employer provides and requires you to stay in a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom home with a good-sized kitchen and laundry facilities. Housing is coed, with a shared television, couch, refrigerator and microwave, included internet, plus smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and a fire extinguisher. The home is about 200 steps from where you work.
