Job duties
- Greet the dining room guests and seat them in an expedient fashion while maintaining a proper seating flow in the seating sections.
- Greet the guests as they approach the podium and make them feel welcome to the dining room.
- Seat the guest(s) as quickly as possible or, if a table is not immediately available, accurately inform the guest(s) of how long the wait period will be.
- Enter guest name and number in party on the wait list and give guest an accurate time of the wait period.
- For dining rooms that utilize a reservations system, check guests in and inform them as to the length of time before they will be seated.
- Keep the seating chart current and seat guests in a proper flow in the sections so as to not over seat any sections.
- Keep menus clean and presentable and discard any menus that are too worn or tattered.
- Report any guest complaints and/or issues immediately to the Service Manager or Unit Manager and respond in a professional, sincere manner.
- Complete opening and closing side duties according to dining room standards.
- Maintain seating log to ensure accurate cover count for the seating period.
- Assist Bussers as needed to clear and set tables.
- Handle sales in an accurate manner, including maintaining a daily bank, entering sales in a cash register, taking money, counting out correct change (coins/bills), giving change to guests, and completing credit card transactions.
- Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting arriving guests with genuine hospitality and a friendly welcome
- Managing the waitlist, seating chart, and reservations during busy dining periods
- Escorting guests to their tables, presenting menus, and setting the tone for their meal
- Communicating with servers and kitchen staff to keep table rotation smooth and efficient
- Answering guest questions about the menu, the lodge, and local activities
- Keeping the host stand, entryway, and dining room presentation clean and inviting
- Assisting with light bussing, resetting tables, and supporting the front-of-house team as needed

Why Denali State Park?
Trapper Creek and Denali State Park sit in the heart of the Alaskan interior, roughly halfway between Anchorage and Fairbanks. This is real wilderness: hiking trails leaving straight from the property, rivers full of salmon, wildflower meadows, and daylight that stretches almost around the clock in June and July. On your days off you can hike Kesugi Ridge, go flightseeing over the Alaska Range, raft the Chulitna River, spot moose and bald eagles, or simply sit by a campfire under the Alaskan sky.
