About the employer
Waves Oceanfront Resort is the largest hotel in the Old Orchard Beach Collection by Lafayette Hotels, located in the heart of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. It's a busy, family-friendly resort town welcoming over 100,000 national and international visitors a year, just 20 minutes from Portland and about 2 hours from Boston.
The Collection employs around 140 national and international staff, so you'll get a true American exchange experience. Students average over 40 hours a week, so the work is challenging and rewarding, but there's still plenty of time for fun. Monthly luncheons bring J-1 students and American staff together, and many students return season after season.

Why Old Orchard Beach?
Old Orchard Beach is one of New England’s most beloved summer destinations — seven miles of sandy shoreline, a historic pier stretching into the ocean, and Palace Playland, the region’s classic seaside amusement park. Evenings bring fireworks, live music, arcades and the best fried clams in Maine.
The town is famously international in summer, with students from all over the world working and living side by side. Portland, Maine’s vibrant food and arts capital, is a short 20-minute ride away, and Boston is reachable in under two hours by train — perfect for weekend adventures.
About Maine
Maine is famous for its rocky coast, lobster, Acadia National Park and island lodges. Students often work in coastal resorts, restaurants and wilderness lodges in one of the most beautiful corners of New England.
