Waves Oceanfront Resort is the largest hotel in the Old Orchard Beach Collection by Lafayette Hotels, located in the heart of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. The Collection employs around 140 national and international staff, so you'll get a true American exchange experience. Students average over 40 hours a week, so the work is challenging and rewarding, but there's still plenty of time for fun. Monthly luncheons bring J-1 students and American staff together, and many students return season after season.
The job as Maintenance
What you'll do
- Assist with painting, basic carpentry tasks under supervision, minor in-room repairs, and responding to maintenance requests.
- Help maintain pool equipment and keep lobbies, walkways, and common areas clean and safe.
- Water flowers, mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake, and sweep parking and outdoor areas to keep the property looking its best.
- Help move and arrange furniture at the beginning and end of the season.
- Collect and remove trash; transport and sort dirty linens and deliver large laundry bags as needed.
- Assist housekeeping with special requests, irons, towels, and other guest needs.
- Pitch in on assorted tasks as assigned to support the team and maintain smooth operations.

Housing
Employer-arranged housing at The Waves is available for a limited number of students. Rooms hold 1 to 3 students and include a small refrigerator, full bathroom, linens and your own room key. There is a shared kitchen, laundry facilities and WiFi throughout. Most housing is directly next door at 71 West Grand Ave.
