General information
Job duties
- Maintain excellent public relations between the Beach Patrol and the surrounding community.
- Enforce rules, regulations and ordinances established by the HOA Board of Directors, American Red Cross, National Weather Service, OSHA, etc.
- Respond to land and water emergencies and provide emergency medical care as needed.
- Perform surf rescue operations when necessary.
- Maintain and improve excellent physical fitness standards including improving swimming, running, and lifesaving skills.
- Maintain Beach Patrol equipment.
- Write incident reports.
- Learn and communicate semaphore proficiently to the Sea Colony standard.
- Complete all daily and regularly scheduled training and drills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 enrolled in the Work & Travel USA program
- Strong swimming ability – you must pass a swim test (typically 500m swim, timed sprint and treading water)
- Confident, upper-intermediate English for clear communication in emergencies
- Responsible, alert and calm under pressure – lives depend on your attention
- Comfortable working outdoors in sun and heat, and physically fit
- Team player with a positive, guest-friendly attitude
- Prior lifeguard experience is a plus, but full training is provided
