Wake Up to Lake Michigan Views – Your Summer at the Lodge at Leathem Smith

Imagine finishing your shift and walking straight to a marina full of sailboats, with the sparkling waters of Sturgeon Bay in front of you and a whole Wisconsin summer ahead. The Lodge at Leathem Smith is a charming waterfront resort in the heart of Door County – one of America’s most beloved summer destinations – and they are looking for energetic international students to join their housekeeping team for the Summer to Fall season.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the housekeeping crew, you’ll be the reason guests fall in love with the Lodge. Your day-to-day duties include:

  • Cleaning and refreshing guest rooms, suites and bathrooms to resort standards
  • Changing bed linens, making beds and restocking towels and amenities
  • Vacuuming, dusting, mopping and keeping hallways and common areas spotless
  • Handling laundry – sorting, washing, folding and organizing linens
  • Reporting maintenance issues and lost-and-found items to your supervisor
  • Greeting guests with a friendly smile and helping with simple requests

You’ll work about 32 hours per week at $13.00 per hour, and because guests at this resort love to show appreciation, tips are part of the deal – a nice bonus on top of your paycheck.

  • Hike or bike through Potawatomi and Peninsula State Parks
  • Chase sunsets at historic lighthouses and take the ferry to Washington Island
  • Try a classic Door County fish boil, cherry pie and Wisconsin cheese
  • Enjoy summer festivals, farmers markets and live music downtown
  • Take weekend trips to Green Bay, Milwaukee or Chicago

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive pay of $13/hour plus tips
  • A real American resort work experience for your CV
  • Daily English practice with guests and coworkers from around the world
  • Friendships with students from many different countries
  • Extended Summer to Fall season – enjoy the beautiful Wisconsin autumn colours
  • A safe, welcoming small-town community that loves its seasonal students

Who We’re Looking For

  • University students aged 18–25 on a J-1 Work & Travel USA visa
  • Conversational English – enough to understand instructions and chat with guests
  • Reliable, punctual and detail-oriented – guests notice the little things
  • Comfortable with physical work: standing, bending, lifting and walking during your shift
  • Positive team player with a helpful attitude
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays (the busiest resort days)
