Imagine spending your summer on the shores of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin – a picturesque marina town in the heart of Door County, known as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” The Lodge at Leathem Smith is a charming waterfront resort with a full-service restaurant, marina and golf course, and we’re looking for energetic international students to join our kitchen team this season.
Your Role in the Kitchen
As a member of our Kitchen Staff, you’ll be right in the middle of the action, learning real American restaurant culture from experienced chefs. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Assisting cooks with food preparation – chopping, portioning, and prepping fresh ingredients
- Plating and garnishing dishes for our restaurant and banquet guests
- Operating basic kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, and ovens under supervision
- Keeping work stations, utensils and storage areas clean and organized
- Following food safety, sanitation and health regulations at all times
- Supporting the team during busy weekends, weddings and special events

Who We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 eligible for the Work & Travel USA (J-1) program
- Conversational English – enough to understand instructions and communicate with the team
- Positive attitude, punctuality and willingness to learn
- Ability to stand for long shifts and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Team player who can stay calm and friendly during busy service
- Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but not required – we will train you!
