Laundry Attendant
Live Your Alaskan Summer at the Foot of Denali
Imagine finishing your shift and stepping outside to see North America’s highest peak glowing pink in the midnight sun. That’s everyday life at HAP Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, tucked into the wilderness of Denali State Park, Trapper Creek, Alaska. We’re hiring Laundry Attendants for the summer to fall season – a perfect Work & Travel USA adventure for university students who want a real job, real income, and a once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Laundry Attendant, you are the engine room of the lodge – making sure every guest sleeps in fresh, crisp linens after a day of hiking and flightseeing. Your day-to-day includes:
- Sorting, washing, drying, folding and pressing linens, towels, and staff uniforms
- Operating commercial washers, dryers, and ironing equipment safely
- Inspecting items for stains or damage and treating or removing them from circulation
- Stocking and organizing linen closets and delivering clean items to housekeeping
- Keeping the laundry area clean, tidy, and well-supplied
- Working as part of a friendly international team and supporting housekeeping when needed
Why Denali State Park?
This is Alaska at its most spectacular: 20-mile mountain views, hiking trails leaving straight from the property, salmon-filled rivers, moose wandering past the lodge, and daylight that lasts almost all night in summer. On your days off you can raft the Chulitna River, take a flightseeing tour over Denali, join a guided hike, or simply relax by a campfire with new friends from all over the world. Talkeetna – Alaska’s quirkiest small town – is just a short drive away, and Anchorage is within reach for weekend trips.
Pay & Benefits
- $16.00 per hour, approximately 40 hours per week
- Overtime opportunities during peak season (paid as required by law)
- Employee housing available on or near property (fees apply)
- Staff dining, employee discounts, and access to lodge activities and staff events
- Genuine U.S. work experience for your CV and huge improvement in spoken English
- Friendships with a large international staff community
What We’re Looking For
- University students aged 18–25 with a valid J-1 Work & Travel visa
- Conversational English and a positive, can-do attitude
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable with physical work – standing, bending, and lifting linen loads
- Team player who can work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Availability from summer through fall (longer stays preferred)
- Ready for remote living – limited nightlife, endless nature
Please note: tips are not part of this position, but your steady $16/hour and generous weekly hours make this one of the most dependable earning options in Alaska.
