At HAP Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, located on the edge of Denali State Park in Trapper Creek, Alaska, this is simply your everyday view. If you want your Work & Travel USA summer to be the story you tell for the rest of your life, this is the place.

We’re hiring Public Area Attendants for the Summer to Fall season – a full-time role paying $16.00 per hour for 40 hours per week, surrounded by glaciers, rivers, wildlife and one of the most spectacular wilderness landscapes on Earth.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Public Area Attendant, you are the person who keeps our lodge looking as beautiful as the mountains outside. Your daily duties include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining guest common areas: lobbies, lounges, hallways, stairwells, dining areas and public restrooms
  • Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing surfaces and emptying trash and recycling
  • Restocking supplies in restrooms and public spaces
  • Keeping outdoor walkways, decks and entrances tidy and welcoming
  • Reporting maintenance issues, spills or safety hazards to your supervisor
  • Greeting guests warmly and answering simple questions or pointing them in the right direction
  • Supporting the housekeeping team during busy arrival and departure days

Why Denali State Park?

Trapper Creek sits in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, roughly two hours north of Anchorage and just south of Denali National Park. On your days off you can:

  • Hike trails with panoramic views of the Alaska Range and Ruth Glacier
  • Try rafting, fishing, ziplining or a flightseeing tour over Denali
  • Spot moose, bears, bald eagles and beavers in their natural habitat
  • Enjoy up to 20 hours of daylight in June – endless time for adventure
  • Catch the first northern lights of the season as August and September arrive

Benefits & Perks

  • $16.00/hour with a guaranteed 40 hours per week and overtime opportunities during peak season
  • Affordable on-site employee housing in a lively international staff community
  • Employee dining options and meal discounts
  • Discounts on tours, activities and other lodge properties
  • Employee events, hikes, movie nights and staff excursions
  • Real U.S. hospitality experience for your CV plus friendships from all over the world

What We’re Looking For

  • University students aged 18–25 eligible for the J-1 Work & Travel USA program
  • Conversational English and a friendly, guest-focused attitude
  • Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
  • Comfort with physical work: standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Team spirit and a genuine love of nature and remote living – no shopping malls out here, just mountains!

Please note: tips are not part of this position, but your steady $16/hour wage and low-cost housing make it easy to save while you explore Alaska.

Spots at Alaska’s wilderness lodges fill up fast every season. Apply today and spend your summer where the mountains are bigger than your imagination.
